CT62 Coffee dripper surface texture is inspired by “Shanwen armor” from Tang Dynasty. The design of the dripper is designed and analysed by Jeff Dayu Shi from Dragonfly Design Centre and Jake Yuan Cheng Hu from Taster’s Coffee, featuring 12 long 12 short and a circled grooves at the lower end. With numerous experiments, he achieved the most optimal and uniform extraction flow and is resistant to clogging. The design is also aimed to prevent over extraction which will often produce bitter, astringent or sour taste, but preserve the aromatic and flavour of the coffee. The dripper is also designed to be 62 degree to allow snug fit between the filter paper and the dripper, to allow consistent extraction.
The 12 long grooves allows the flowrate to increase when water level is high due to increase in water pressure and decrease when water level is low. Thus the 12 additional short grooves at the lower part of the dripper help compensate and allow the flowrate to match the flowrate when water level is high. These grooves also help prevent from clogging while brewing.
CT62 dripper has won German Design Award 2023, was also being used and won 1st place during the 2023 CBrC (China Brewers Cup).
The black edition of CT62 is a limited collab edition between Taster Coffee and Brewboy. Once sold out, they may or may not manufacture more, but other colour may be available. If you would like to purchase CT62 in other colour such as pink, green or grey, please contact us.
