Nestled within the heart of the Kayanza region in Burundi, this Gakenke coffee carries with it the rich tapestry of local history and culture. The Gakenke area, located is renown for its people’s hospitality and love of home brewed beers. This coffee is grown by around 2600 producers on small 0.06 hectare farms at around 1600-1700m above sea level, and delivers vibrant pear flavours, and a spice-driven aroma.
Farmers in this area are educated through Good Agricultural Practices system, empowering both their coffee endeavors and their financial literacy. Greenco’s initiatives reverberate through the landscape, enabling farmers to embrace environmentally conscious practices and safeguard the delicate balance of their surroundings.

Villino was established in 2007 and quickly became a key influencer of the specialty coffee scene and is one of the longest-running and largest coffee roasters in Tasmania.
